The Voice of Cebu bags 2nd Place for the Open Category at the Regional Qualifier Finals of the MBC National Choral Competition. 4 choirs from the region participated in this annual event. Under the baton of Jesson Albaran, the Voice of Cebu (locally known as VOX) performed Usahay (Regional Folksong), Louder (Pop/Contemporary) and Lead Me Lord (Liturgical/Inspirational) during the competition proper of August 25, 2012 to which the choir received a rousing standing ovation and applause from the audience. The Voice of Cebu qualified for the semifinal round this coming December 2012 at the Aliw Theater in Manila.
 
Register now for the 2012 MBC National Choral Competition!  Regional eliminations scheduled as follows:   August 11 (Cauayan - open category); August 18 (Baguio - open category);  August 19 (Lingayen - Children's category); August 25 (cebu - open and children); Sept 1 (Davao - open and children); Sept 8 (Iloilo - open category_; Sept 15 (Zamboanga - open category);  Sept 22 (GenSan - open and children);  Oct 13 (Naga - open category).  Regional winners receive P15,000 plus additional travel subsisdy to compete in the semifinals scheduled on December 3-6

MegaManila auditions will be held Oct 6 & 7 at the Star Theater, with the grand finals taking place on December 7 at the Aliw Theater.  Those interested should contact [email protected]

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is pleased to announce the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, Manila, 2013, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, a resident company of the CCP. 

The festival honors the founder of the Philippine Madrigal Singers National Artist for Music, Professor Andrea O. Veneracion, an esteemed choirmaster and choral clinician who is instrumental in the promotion of choral music all over the country. 


CATEGORIES 

The competition is open to choirs which will qualify in the following categories: 

Category A: Folk Music 

Category B: Vocal Ensemble

MANILA, Philippines – The best choirs from local schools, parishes and community groups nationwide are set to face off and determine the season’s best as Manila Broadcasting Co. and Star City launch their Paskong Pinoy celebrations with the MBC National Choral Competition.

Following rigorous auditions conducted by its stations Love Radio, Yes-FM, Easy Rock, and Hot FM in Cauayan, Laoag, Baguio, Lucena, Naga, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Iloilo, MBC recently announced the roster of choirs that qualified for the semifinal round scheduled on December 6-9.
